The basic idea of RateAustin is that it should be as easy as possible to find a business that other people in Austin recommend. Yelp is great, but I am not always in a mood to read reviews. All I need to know is whether or not other people in my community like the business. Instead of relying on the biggest ad in the yellow pages, RateAustin boosts the ranking of businesses that have the most favorite votes. It’s easy to find the most popular business in a category without reading a single review.
